Obituary

Manuel Hinojosa Jr., 86, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2026. He was born on January 15, 1940, in Hebbronville, Texas, where he later married his high school sweetheart, Dubelza Paiz Hinojosa. He now joins Dubelza in eternal rest after sharing 62 years of unwavering love.

A man of strength and steadfast faith, Manuel dedicated more than 30 years of his life to his work in the oil industry. After retiring, he embraced one of his greatest joys—playing golf, a pastime that brought him friendship, laughter, and countless sunny afternoons.

Manuel was a loving and proud father to Veronica Hinojosa Segura and Juan Manuel Hinojosa, and a cherished grandfather to Mia Hinojosa, Ezekiel “Zeke” Hinojosa, and Isaac Segura. His grandchildren were the light of his life, and he treasured every moment spent with them especially at Christmas time.

Guided by his faith, Manuel served for many years as a preacher for the Church of Christ in Bishop, Texas, offering comfort, encouragement, and scripture to his community whenever called upon.

Manuel Hinojosa is survived by his son Juan Manuel Hinojosa, Ed.D. and daughter in law, Elisa of Castroville, TX; daughter Veronica Hinojosa Segura and son in law, Steve of Austin, Tx; his loving sister Beatriz Soliz of Hebbronville, Tx; Grandchildren Ezekiel “Zeke” Hinojosa, M.D. and his wife Sara Yasrebi, M.D. of Houston, Tx; Mia Hinojosa, a graduate student at SMU in Dallas, Tx, and Isaac Segura, an attorney in Houston, Tx; numerous nephews and nieces from the Hinojosa, Soliz, and Garza family and extended nephews and nieces from the Paiz family.

Preceded in death by his mother Cecilia Moreno Hinojosa, and father Manuel Hinojosa, his sister Berta Garza and brother Guadalupe Hinojosa. Manuel leaves behind a lifetime of love, strength, and hard earned respect that his family and friends will carry forward.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Manuel Hinojosa will be held on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary in Kingsville, TX. Visitation will take place at 9 a.m. followed by a ceremony beginning at 10:00 a.m. with an interment to follow at Restland Cemetery in Bishop, Tx.

A heartfelt expression of gratitude is extended to the entire staff at Orchard Park Memory Care in Kyle, Tx, and the caring staff at Suncrest Hospice. The daily care they provided touched the hearts of Manuel’s family.

May Manuel rest in peace, reunited with his loved ones who have gone before him. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Sunny Glen Children’s Home in Harlingen, Texas, a cause close to Manuel’s heart.

Honoring Manuel Hinojosa, Jr., as pallbearers are Ezekiel (Zeke) Hinojosa, Isaac Segura, Oscar Hinojosa, George Garza, Gilberto Soliz, and Rene Soliz.

Honorary Pallbearer, Thomas McElroy.
