Mr. Macario Gaytan Mayorga, age 86, entered eternal rest on July 3rd, 2026, in Kingsville, Texas. Macario was born on Sept 24, 1939, in Kleberg County, Texas to George and Manuela Mayorga. He was raised on the King Ranch where he learned the value of honest hard work.
He was employed in many jobs over his lifetime but found his true calling working for the City of Kingsville Water Department for more than 35 years. During this time, he literally memorized just about every water line, size and capacity rating in the entire City. He once stated that repairing water lines in the dead of winter on a cold night would separate the men from the boys. Entering a hole filled with water over one’s head to repair an unseen leak by touch would separate those that could from those that just tried.
In his youth, Macario enjoyed playing baseball. He also enjoyed barbecuing for his family and watching horse racing and professional sports on television.
Macario was preceded in death by his loving wife, Matilde Mayorga; parents, George and Manuela Mayorga; and sisters Enriqueta Sanchez and Guadalupe Maria Mayorga.
He is survived by his sons, Macario R. Mayorga Jr. (Teresa), of Kingsville. TX, George Mayorga, of Kyle, TX, John Mayorga (Sylvia), of Katy, TX, and daughter, Anna Marie Locher (Jeff) of Leander, TX.; his loving grandchildren, Anthony G. Locher, Devin B. Locher, Judy Matilde Mayorga, Joshua J. Mayorga, and Lucas M. Mayorga.
The family will receive condolences from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary; with a holy rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. A mass of christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 17, 2026, at St. Martin Catholic Church. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at Resthaven Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the staff at Lone Star Ranch Nursing for their care of Macario over the last two years, and Trinity Hospice for their care in his final days.
