Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Luis Nava Jr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and cherished friend, who left this world on July 3, 2026, in his hometown of Kingsville, Texas. Born on August 8, 1948, in Kingsville, Luis’ life was a testament to love, resilience, and joy, and his memory will forever illuminate the paths of those fortunate enough to have known him.

Luis was the true embodiment of warmth and gentle strength. He was a loving, caring, and gentle spirit deeply loved by all who crossed his path. Those who spent even a short while in his company were drawn in by his strong character—a presence both kind and quietly powerful. It was well known among his family that wherever Luis was, laughter always followed. His joy was infectious, and his sense of humor painted even the ordinary moments of life with the vibrant colors of happiness and companionship.

After graduating high school, Luis made a decision that reflected his dedication and courage—he served his country in the United States Army overseas. This chapter of his life spoke to his unwavering sense of duty, bravery, and love for others. Upon returning home, Luis continued to live a life characterized by hard work and commitment while working at the Kingsville Naval Air Station for many years.

Luis delighted in the simple pleasures—most of all, spending time with his buddies and singing whenever he could. These moments of camaraderie and music became treasured memories woven into the fabric of his legacy, memories that now echo in the hearts of his loved ones. His infectious spirit made gatherings brighter, and his unwavering support was a cornerstone for family and friends alike.

Luis is survived by his devoted wife, Susana Nava, who stood by his side through every joy and challenge. He is also lovingly remembered by his Son, Luis Nava III, daughter, Lori Lee Nava, granddaughters, Alexandria Quinones and Nicole Garcia, grandson, Gabriel Quinones Jr., and great-grandchildren, Jace Garcia and Lorenzo Quinones. Their stories and laughter carry forward Luis’ legacy and the many lessons of love, strength, and tenderness he imparted during his lifetime.

In sorrow, the family recalls those dear to Luis who have gone before him—his father, Luis Nava Sr.; his mother, Carolina Nava; his 5 sisters and 3 brothers, who welcomed him now with open arms in eternity.

There are many ways to describe Luis Nava Jr., but perhaps the most enduring is his hard work, devotion, and the love he so freely gave to those around him. These qualities will always resonate through the hearts of those who knew him, mingled with the joy and warmth he brought to their lives.

Friends and loved ones are invited to remember and celebrate Luis’ remarkable life at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Kingsville, Texas. The visitation will be held on July 17, 2026, from 8:00 to 10:30 a.m., followed by the rosary at 10:30 a.m., and Mass at 11:00 a.m. An internment will follow at Santa Gertrudis Cemetery.

Though our hearts ache with his loss, we find solace in the laughter he shared and the endless love he gave. The legacy of Luis Nava Jr. will forever echo in the stories, songs, and cherished memories that bind all who loved him.
