Obituary

Lucilla S. Alvarado, born on March 15, 1954, passed away on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at the age of 72, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, laughter, and deep devotion to those she loved. She lived with a joyful spirit that drew people in effortlessly. The life of the party, Lucilla never met a stranger and was truly a friend to everyone. She had the rare gift of making others feel welcome, and her presence brought lightness, humor, and comfort wherever she went.

A natural storyteller and jokester, Lucilla was always happy and always ready to share a laugh. She filled gatherings with conversation, humor, and the kind of easy companionship that made ordinary moments memorable. Her love of life could be seen in the simple pleasures she cherished, especially traveling and going fishing, pursuits that brought her enjoyment and added to the many stories she so loved to tell. She also had a special love for dolphins, a reflection of the sense of wonder and affection she carried for the world around her.

Lucilla also expressed her love through food and hospitality. She made the best tamales and pan de polvo, and she loved to cook and barbecue for those around her. Meals prepared by her were more than food; they were an extension of her generosity, her care, and the happiness she found in bringing people together. Her kitchen and her gatherings reflected the same spirit she carried through life: open, lively, and full of heart.

Above all, Lucilla's proudest accomplishment was her family, especially her son and grandchildren. They were at the center of her heart and the source of her greatest joy. The love she gave so freely, the laughter she shared so generously, and the memories she created so naturally will remain with all who knew her.

Lucilla S. Alvarado will be remembered with affection for her vibrant personality, her welcoming nature, her wonderful cooking, and the joy she brought into every room. Her life was a celebration of family, friendship, and togetherness, and her memory will continue to live on in the stories told, the meals shared, and the love she leaves behind.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Pedro S. and Antonio (Robles) Saenz; sister, Estella S. Garza; brother, Pedro R. Saenz, Jr.; and brother-on-law, Pete Cavazos.

Among those left to cherish her memory are son, Pedro Antonio "Tony" Alvarado (Sonya); sister, Alice Bazan Cavazos; brother, Joseph R. Saenz; grandchildren, Milana Lucille Alvarado, Ariella Crisel Alvarado, and Diego JAE "GoGo" Alvarado; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

The family will receive condolences from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Monday, November 2, 2026, at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary. A liturgy of the word will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, at Turcotte-Piper Chapel. Rite of committal and interment will follow at Chamberlain Cemetery.
