Lloyd A. Gardner

Lloyd A. (Sonny) Gardner, of Riviera, Texas, passed away on November 10, 2021, at the age of 89. He was born on April 23, 1932, to Lehman and Daunice Gardner, who were the proud owners of Gardner Café in Riviera, Texas. Sonny proudly served in the U.S. Navy. He loved coaching little league baseball and was his grandkids number one fan at their ball games. Sonny also enjoyed hunting, golfing, playing dominoes, and loved drinking coffee with his buddies from Kingsville.

He is preceded in death by both his parents; his late wife, Billie Huggins Gardner.

Sonny is survived by his wife, Mitsuko (Mitzi) Gardner; children, Lloyd A. Gardner Jr. (Tressie) and Brenda Hopkins Wager; stepchildren, Rhonda Garrett (Scott), Janet Leath, Robert Klassen; 4 grandchildren; 8 step grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; and 12 step great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 11, 2021, at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary. Interment will follow at Riviera Cemetery.
