Julio Rodriguez, Jr., whose life was a vibrant tapestry of passion, talent, and warmth, passed away on March 28, 2026, at the age of 61. Born on November 6, 1964, Julio’s journey was marked by a heartfelt love for family, music, and the simple joys that make life meaningful.
A proud 1983 graduate of Benavides High School, Julio distinguished himself not only through his academic journey but also as an excellent trumpet player in the High School Band. His musical ability was a testament to his dedication and artistry, qualities that echoed through his every endeavor. Beyond music, he was a masterful craftsman, especially talented with woodwork, crafting pieces that mirrored the care and precision with which he approached all aspects of life.
Julio’s personality was a compelling blend of open-mindedness and conviction. He welcomed diverse perspectives but never shied away from a good family debate, where his spirited and opinionated nature came alive, enriching the conversations with thoughtful insights. His enjoyment of lively exchanges was a reflection of his deep respect for his loved ones and the bonds they shared.
He found joy in the simple pleasures: listening to music that moved his soul, casting a fishing line into tranquil waters, and savoring the flavors of a good barbecue surrounded by those he cherished. Yet, above all, Julio treasured his time spent visiting with family and friends, moments that filled his heart and ours with enduring happiness and connection.
As we bid farewell to Julio Rodriguez, Jr., we hold onto a legacy painted by his talents, his spirited heart, and the unforgettable moments shared with him. His memory remains alive in the music he played, the craft he polished, and the love he so generously gave. Though our hearts grieve, they are also full—grateful to have known a man who lived with such depth and grace.
He preceded in death by his father, Julio Rodriguez, Sr.; maternal grandparents, Faustino and Eva Saenz; and paternal grandparents, Norberto and Herminia Rodriguez.
Among those left to cherish his memory are his mother, Gloria Rodriguez; children, Antonio Rodriguez and Andrew Escamilla; siblings, Rosario Allen (Sophia Medina), Norberto Rodriguez (Celina), Minerva Robinson (Brandon), and Hector Rodriguez; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
The family will receive condolences from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary; with a holy rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. A mass of christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at St. Martin Catholic Church. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at Benavides Cemetery, Benavides, Texas.
