Juanita Charles, 90, of Kingsville, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2026. She leaves behind a lifetime of love, faith, family, and cherished memories that will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Juanita was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother whose family was the center of her world. She had a special way of making the people around her feel loved and cared for. Whether it was gathering the family for an outing, enjoying a camping trip, preparing a home-cooked meal, or simply spending time together, Juanita treasured every moment with her loved ones. She especially enjoyed spoiling her family—and her animals—and her generous heart was always ready to give a little more.
For many years, Juanita worked in bookkeeping and accounting. She was also a faithful and active member of Retama Park Baptist Church, where her faith was an important part of her life. She dedicated many years to serving others as a volunteer at Christus Spohn Hospital Kleberg, where she was lovingly known as one of the "Purple Ladies." Her willingness to give her time and care to others reflected the kindness she carried throughout her life.
Juanita was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jack Marvin Charles; her daughter, Jackie Marie Owens; her parents, Frank and Lucy Staples; and her son-in-law, Greg Coleman.
She leaves behind a beautiful family who will carry her memory forward: her daughters, Jeanne (Brant) Hahn of La Vernia, Texas, and Joyce Coleman of Kingsville, Texas; her sons, John (Suzanne) Charles of Round Rock, Texas, and James (Coral) Charles of Goliad, Texas; along with 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
Though her family will miss her dearly, Juanita's love will continue to live on in the family she cherished so deeply. The lessons she taught, the meals she lovingly prepared, the family gatherings she enjoyed, and the countless memories she created will remain a part of her family for generations to come. Her greatest legacy is the love she gave so freely and the family she leaves behind.
Juanita's life will be celebrated with a Memorial Service beginning at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at Retama Park Baptist Church in Kingsville, Texas. Following the service, she will be laid to rest at Resthaven Cemetery.
