On behalf of my family, I just want to thank everyone who’s shown their support & condolences. My family & I have received many calls, text messages, visits, & talks in the span of a couple days. Everyone has been very comforting & the impact “Juan Jorge Montalvo “has made on everyone in their lives has shown tremendously.
My name is Jayzel Marques Montalvo I am the third oldest out of his 4 children. Juan was a very down to earth man & took in many other people to better their lives. He had four children named Juan (Miguel) Jr, Jorge Gabriel, myself included, & Jovan James Montalvo.
My father loved one lady throughout his whole life. Her name was Jessica Monic Richardson. They had their own hood love story similar to the film “The Notebook “. Meeting at a young age. They were best friends. In the cruel world we live in. They were found together. The love he had for her is something unexplainable. Something you had to see for yourself because it was livid & felt in a room. As he rests, all that's left is the memories created & time spent will forever flood in the eyes of her.
They say when you lose someone it’ll become easier & the pain womb will slowly fade... In this case. I just want to sit with it & feel everything. Juan was very unique & always wanted to be in his own category. He was somebody you can't let go easily. He was someone who was always going to be around. Always observed the setting. You could always catch him with a Crown Bottle mixed with a Red-bull. If y’all were trash talking with one another he will go till the wheels fall off especially about his Dallas Cowboys or talking Politics.
My father was in employed with Road Safe, Corpus Christi, Texas. Where he spent his time till he passed. I thank road safe for greeting my father with open arms especially when his disability. The company never saw Juan for any different & believed every man deserved to make a life out of themselves.
My father was an introvert. Someone you had to peel like an onion but once you got him going it was going to be a good time. Juan had a unique way of showing his love. He showed his love for his people through music. He wouldn’t say a word and it was something you had to catch on your own timing. Juan listened to all genres of music, but his top three favorites were Rap, Tejano, & Rock. My father loved Dj Screw & SPM along with our own Houstonian genre that we call “Chopped n Screwed “.
Out of everything he ever loved, nothing could ever beat the love he had for naps. That man would catch some Z’s any chance he got. I don’t blame him though he would wake up at 4am every day. My father was a crazy sleeper as well. I remember this one time when he was sleeping, he yelled out “1...2…3... “and went back to snoring. Our little brother then goes “4...5...6 “& everyone in the house busted out laughing.
Juan found compassion in radio’s & sub woof systems. He would turn into a whole tech engineer & was always creating random stuff such as boom boxes & installing systems into cars making the Ford Fusion he passed with a victim. Juan found enjoyment cracking up the music so high the walls felt like they were vibrating. I remember when we were younger it used to be so embarrassing arriving to our elementary school hearing Boosie Badazz & Young Jeezy at 7am in the morning while other children were getting off the car to Taylor Swift.
Juan enjoyed being with family & kicking back. He was a family-oriented guy. Never missed a beat. Someone who was constantly asked about if they weren’t there on time. My father loved to be outside with the grill on & a beer in hand. He used to always say that his family & siblings were saving him each time they spent together.
My father believed in change. One of the last few conversations I had with him. He was determined on wanting to change himself Spiritually, Physically, & Mentally. My dad was an Old-school man with a splash of new school. He believed in the traditional way of teaching but for his kids. He was willing to bend the rules & acknowledge being weak at times & it being okay to break down.
Juan Montalvo was an imperfect man but with that being said knowing that he was the opposite made him perfect. My father taught me the principle of a dollar & how to carry yourself during any type of storm. (we’re not talking about weather.) The life lessons he taught will never be replaced by anyone. The love he showed towards his people will forever be cherished & kept close to their heart’s while guiding them in spirit.
I will never forget my father’s voice, contagious laugh, his snore, & the fact that I am constantly reminded of him in reflection of our youngest sibling Jovan.
I love you always,
Jayzel (lil tank)
