Juan De La Garza Jr.

Juan De La Garza Jr., known to many as Kito, a man whose spirit was as vibrant as the Texas sky, passed away on December 18, 2024, in Corpus Christi, Texas. Born on December 7, 1949, in Kingsville, Texas, Juan's life epitomized the beauty of hard work, family love, and an unwavering zest for life. Known as a man of many trades throughout his life, he dedicated himself to various jobs until his well-deserved retirement, leaving a legacy of hard work and determination.

Juan was not only known for his skills but also for his vibrant personality. He was full of life and demonstrated unconditional love for his family. Family gatherings were a highlight of Juan's life; he took great joy in bar-b-queing and was always the star of the dance floor, appreciating music, particularly Tejano rhythms. His passion for football, especially his loyalty to the Dallas Cowboys, was another significant aspect of his life that resonated deeply with those who knew him.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Elvira De La Garza, and a large and loving family: his son, Juan (Shannon) De La Garza III; daughters Mary Ann (Roy) De La Garza, Melissa (Oscar) De La Garza, Connie D. (Brad) Allen, Jo Ann De La Garza, Sue Ann De La Garza, Angela De La Garza, and Savannah De La Garza; his step-son, Danny (Selena) Chavez; and his sister, Hermelinda (Danny) Rodriguez. He was also a proud grandfather to 21 grandchildren and had the remarkable blessing of 25 great-grandchildren. His family will forever cherish the memories they created with him.

Juan was preceded in death by his father, Juan De La Garza Sr.; his mother, Filomena Nuñez De La Garza; his brother, Olivero De La Garza; and his sister, Nieves Nuñez. Their memories live on through the stories and love shared among those who remain.

The family invites those who wish to honor Juan’s memory to join them for a visitation on December 23, 2024, starting at 5:00 PM, followed by a Rosary at 7:00 PM, held at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary in Kingsville, Texas.
