Johnny Paulk, husband, father, brother, uncle and PawPaw, finished his race on Tuesday August 8th, 2023 at the age of 73. He will be truly missed by those that loved him, who are many.
John McCauley Paulk, Sr. was born in Gorman, Texas on May 27, 1950, to Mahlon and Gladys Paulk. In 1973, on a trip to visit his older sister Jackie in New York, he met Gloria Jean Stranger who was a junior in high school at the time. After a long-distance courtship, they were married on October 23, 1976, in San Antonio, TX. Johnny and Gloria made their home at 1105 E Warren in Kingsville, TX for all 46 years of their marriage. They welcomed their son John (Little John) in 1977 and daughter Becky (Petunia) in 1978.
Following in his father’s footsteps, Johnny supported his family plumbing in the Kingsville area for many years. When he wasn’t working, Johnny loved fast cars, motorcycles, coin and stamp collecting, metal detecting and hunting. He also enjoyed learning about history and watching YouTube videos about things some would consider conspiracy theories. Above all of these, he loved fishing at Baffin Bay and ending the day at Kings Inn for fried drum and shrimp with their famous tartar sauce. Johnny loved his family, he especially loved being PawPaw to his granddaughter Aubrey.
Johnny was preceded in death by his father Charles Mahlon Paulk and mother Gladys Celeste Clowers Paulk of Kingsville, TX; sister Jackie Mentzer; sister Jeannine Wade; brother Chuck Paulk and brother Monte Paulk.
He is survived by his wife Gloria Paulk; son John Paulk, Jr (Tiffany); daughter Becky Wood (Brian); granddaughter Aubrey Ann Wood, beloved and constant companion Princess, as well as many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life for Johnny will be held at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary in Kingsville on Saturday, August 19th. Visitation at 10:00 AM, Memorial Service at 11:00 AM.
