Jo Ann N. Quillian, a beloved matriarch and beacon of strength, passed away at home in Bishop, Texas, on June 9, 2025, surrounded by her cherished loved ones. Born on August 28, 1941, in Corpus Christi, Texas, Jo Ann lived a life that exemplified faith, family, and compassion.
A woman of profound principles and values, Jo Ann was a devoted Catholic who embraced her faith as the cornerstone of her life. She believed deeply in the importance of nurturing the spiritual growth of her children, ensuring they were raised with a strong understanding of God’s love. With her warm smile and gracious demeanor, she embodied grace and kindness in all her interactions. She was generous and forgiving, qualities that endeared her to friends, family, and all who crossed her path.
Jo Ann was preceded in death by her loving husband, Charles R. Quillian, who was her devoted partner in life. She is also reunited with her parents, Albert A. Nelson and Clotilde Nelson, and her sisters: Marie Barrera, Cecelia Maisel, and Rita Solis. The bonds of love that Jo Ann shared with them remain unbroken, and she is surely at peace alongside them.
Jo Ann's legacy is carried on through her beloved family. She is survived by her children, Robert (Wendy) Quillian, Joseph (Martha) Quillian, Rita (Tom) Miller, and Andrea (Michael) Holste; and siblings, Albert X. Nelson and Emily Yeary. Jo Ann was blessed with nine grandchildren, Ursula Devore, Andrew Everitt, Megan Trevino, Christopher Quillian, Sean Quillian, Michaela Beck, Kelsey Huizar, Trey Miller, and Robby Quillian; and 13 great-grandchildren, Gage Devore, Delilah Trevino, Remy Devore, Joseph Trevino, Olivia Quillian, Olivia Everitt, Colton Beck, Naomi Huizar, Connor Everitt, Sofia Quillian, Isaiah Huizar, Vivian Beck, and Mason Quillian. Each of them held a special place in her heart, and she delighted in their accomplishments and milestones.
A memorial rosary will be recited at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at St. James Catholic Church in Bishop, Texas; with a memorial mass to follow at 11:00 a.m.
Jo Ann N. Quillian will forever be remembered as an inspiration to others, whose love and unwavering faith shaped the lives of all who knew her.
