Jimmie L. Geryk

Jimmie Louise Garbe Geryk, age 97, passed away on October 28, 2025 in Kingsville, Texas. She was born on September 17, 1928 in Port Lavaca, Texas to Albert and Ida Garbe.

Jimmie met and married the love of her life, Gus Geryk in 1948. Together they raised 3 children. She devoted the entirety of her life to her children and grandchildren. Whatever they did, she did. She went hunting and fishing and spent an unimaginable amount of hours at softball fields all over the United States. Her house was the family hub on Sunday afternoons. After church, everyone would gather at her house, and oh the memories that were made there. Homemade ice cream, playing cards, and cousins spending time together. It was loud, it was crowded, but no one cared. Especially not Granny. She lived for her family.

But it was her ability to pray that most defines Granny. She prayed over and for everyone and everything. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren are a testament to her hours of prayer. Even in her last days, when she didn't recognize anyone or know what was going on around her, she never lost her ability to pray. Her final prayer, answered by her merciful Father, was "Jesus, take me home".

Granny was also a faithful member of First Assembly of God Church, sitting in the same seat every service, at the back, so she could see and greet everyone who entered.

She is proceeded in death by her husband, Gus Geryk; daughter and son in law, JoNell (Richard) Shaw; parents; four brothers, Harold, Dennis Earl, Thomas Herman, and Robert; sister, Jessie; and one grandson, Shad Shaw.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda (Robert) Cadwell; son, Jimmy (Carol) Geryk; Seven grandchildren, Shane (Sharon) Shaw, Bobby Cadwell, Christi (Eric) Nielsen, Shonna Shaw, Jessica (Greg) Del Bosque, Jennifer (Scott) Aldrich and Tori (Braxton) Bielski; and numerous great grandchildren.

Services are entrusted to Turcotte-Piper Mortuary, 205 General Cavazos Blvd. Kingsville, Texas 78363.
