Obituary

Jesus Valdez passed away on January 7, 2026. He was 89 years old. He was born on November 9, 1936 in Karnes City, TX. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years Graciela C. Valdez, parents Maximo and Guadalupe Valdez, sister Ofelia Chlamon and brother Jose Valdez.

Jesus married Graciela on August 8, 1964. He was known as "Viejito" to Joel and "Jesse or Suegro" to his daughter in law Gracie and "Lito" to his grandchildren Alejandro and Iliana and known to others as "Chuy". He was also known as a spiritual father, spiritual grandfather and spiritual brother to many in his congregation here in Kingsville as well as to many in Jehovah's organization throughout Texas and other places. We all have so many good memories of Jesus.

Jesus was baptized in 1950 as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in a convention in New York. He had so many privileges in the 76 years of serving in Jehovah's organization. He served as a regular pioneer, ministerial servant, elder and substitute circuit overseer. He worked hard in the building of Kingdom Halls on the Regional Building Committee. He also had the privilege in helping in the building of La Feria Assembly Hall. He was able to serve as Food Overseer in our conventions as well as serving as an Assembly Overseer and Convention Overseer for many years.

Jesus was a carpenter by trade but his work as minister in preaching always came first in his life. He always considered himself as a slave for Jehovah. He loved serving the friends by not only giving wonderful talks but by also being able to listen to the friends and shepherd them with firm loving counsel and because of that many in the congregation held a great respect for him. It was a honor having him as a husband, father, father in law, grandfather and spiritual brother and we look forward to seeing him again in Jehovah's promise of a Paradise here on earth.

He is survived by his son Joel J Valdez, daughter in law Gracie Valdez, grandson Alejandro Valdez and granddaughter Iliana Valdez. His siblings Max Valdez, Elma (Andres) Bovadilla, Diana Carrera, Gloria Valdez, and Gil Valdez along with numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral talk will be on January 17, 2026 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Kingsville, Tx at 2:00 pm.
