James “Jim” M. Stout, a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend passed away June 23, 2025 at the age of 68 in a hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was born on September 15, 1956, in Harlingen, Texas to Bob and Birdie Stout. He was a devoted family man who enjoyed woodworking, camping, gardening, football, Nascar, crosswords, and trivia.
Jim attended H.M. King High and Texas A&I. He had several jobs growing up, but the one that taught him responsibility and discipline was his paper route. He would get up at 3:00 A.M to pick up the newspapers, roll them, and then deliver them on his motorcycle. Jim didn’t much care for the Sunday paper, however, due to its weight. After, he had to go to school and continued this for several years. Later, he went to work for John Deere and the King Ranch. With the experience he gained from those jobs, he was able to open G&S Services with his business partner, Fred Gorbet, in 1988. He was fair and honest and strived to make his customers happy.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Laura Gooch, of 37 years; sons, James M. Stout, Jr. and Nathan R. Stout; sister, Sally Arce of Houston; and numerous nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Birdie Stout, and Bob’s second wife, May Stout.
A celebration of life will be held on July 9, 2025, with a visitation starting at 1:00 PM, and the service starting at 1:30 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Animal Rescue Kleberg (ARK), located at 225 East Henrietta Kingsville, Texas, via PayPal at animalrescuekleberg@yahoo.com, or via Venmo at https://venmo.com/u/KingsvilleAnimalRescue-Kleberg, in the name of James M.
