James "Jim" W. McHorse, a beloved member of his community and a successful local industrial business owner, passed away on July 22, 2023. He was born on October 21, 1941, in Brownwood, Texas. Jim's life was one filled with passion, strength, and an unwavering commitment to his family and friends.

From a young age, Jim demonstrated exceptional athletic abilities. He graduated from Miller High in Corpus Christi, TX where he gained recognition as "No hit McHorse" for his outstanding skills on the baseball field. His talent extended beyond the diamond as he took on the roles of quarterback and pitcher for the Wichita State University's sports teams during his college years.

Beyond athletics, Jim possessed an incredible charisma and never met a stranger. Whether it was in his professional endeavors or personal connections, he had a natural ability to put people at ease and make them feel welcomed. This quality undoubtedly played a significant role in making him such a highly regarded figure within his community.  As the owner of a local industrial business, Jim exemplified dedication and hard work. He approached each day with enthusiasm and constantly sought ways to innovate and grow his company.


Outside of work, Jim had a diverse range of interests that provided him with fulfillment and joy throughout his life. He loved spending time out on the golf course, tackling each hole with determination and skill. Fishing trips allowed him to connect with nature while indulging in moments of tranquility. Additionally, Jim possessed a great passion for hunting which afforded him the opportunity to cherish moments outdoors.

Jim's artistic talents were also impressive and often displayed through various forms of creative expression. As a skilled artist, he created breathtaking pieces that captivated those fortunate enough to witness them. Through these endeavors, he showcased a depth of creativity that enriched the lives of those around him.

Above all else, Jim treasured his family. He was a loving father, and a doting grandfather. His unwavering support and unconditional love were evident in the close-knit relationships he cultivated with each family member. Whether he was attending his children's sporting events or sharing wisdom earned through a lifetime of experience, Jim's presence served as a beacon to guide and uplift those he held dear.

James "Jim" W. McHorse will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His remarkable achievements, warm personality, and love for his family leave an indelible mark on the lives he touched. While we mourn the loss of such an extraordinary individual, it is important to celebrate the rich and meaningful life that Jim led. As we bid farewell to this remarkable man, may we find solace in the countless memories cherished and let his legacy inspire us for generations to come.

 

He is preceded in death by his son, James W. “Jaime” McHorse IV.; and parents, James W. McHorse, Jr. and Billye Boyd Adams.

 

Among those left to cherish his memory are his son, Sterling McHorse; sisters, Briana Brooks and Kendra Meadows; best friend, Luis (Erica) Garza; 3 grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

 

The family will receive condolences at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 18, 2023, at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary; with a celebration of life and eulogy to begin at 2:00 p.m.  Services will conclude that afternoon.
