Jack Westly Young

Jack Westly Young, who was affectionately known as "Traveling Jack," passed away on July 3, 2023, at the age of 74 in Kingsville, Texas. Born on December 14, 1948, in Jacksonville, Florida, Jack lived a remarkable life filled with adventures and cherished memories.  He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. His time in the military was marked by dedication and bravery; he found fulfillment in defending his homeland and cherished the camaraderie shared among fellow service members. For his commitment to duty, Jack received the esteemed National Defense Service Medal.

Jack was a beloved member of his community and will be remembered for his adventurous spirit and love for travel. Throughout his life, he explored various parts of the world, always seeking new experiences and faces. Whether it was navigating through bustling city streets or hiking in serene landscapes, Jack had an insatiable curiosity that led him to countless remarkable destinations.

Jack will be remembered for his infectious laughter and warm-hearted nature. His enthusiasm for life inspired those around him to embrace new experiences and appreciate the beauty of the world. Whether he was recounting stories from his travels or lending a helping hand to someone in need, Jack's genuine kindness touched the lives of many.  In addition to his vast network of friends that became family, Jack leaves behind cherished memories that will be treasured by all who knew him. The stories he shared and the adventures he embarked upon will live on as a testament to his vibrant spirit.  May his soul find eternal peace, and may his memory continue to inspire generations to come.

Among those left to cherish his memory are his close friends, James and Linda Rorvig of McVille, ND, Michael Griffith, Katrina Veltman and Howard Deering of Kingsville, TX.

A funeral cortege will depart Turcotte-Piper Mortuary at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 3, 2023, for a rite of committal and interment with military honors to take place at 11:00 a.m. at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery in Corpus Christi, TX.
