Heriberto "Indio" Caldera, 65, of Bishop, Texas, passed away on August 18, 2026. He was a hardworking farmer, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather; a man whose unforgettable personality brought laughter and joy to everyone around him.

Heriberto was truly one of a kind. He was known as the class clown—the kind of person who could make just about anyone laugh. He lived life on his own terms and never worried too much about what others thought. Some may have called him “crazy,” but those who knew him best knew that behind his wild personality was a strong-hearted man with a tremendous love for his family.

One of Heriberto’s favorite things was dancing. Whenever there was music and a dance floor, you could count on him to be out there enjoying himself. His sense of humor, lively personality, and ability to make people smile will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Heriberto’s greatest accomplishments were his family, especially his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He took great pride in watching his family grow and treasured the time he spent with them. When he wasn't working, Heriberto enjoyed fishing, hunting, dancing, and making memories with those he loved.

He was preceded in death by his beloved grandsons, Moses Israel Caldera and Julius Alexander Vallejo; great-grandson, Hunter Chipps; daughter-in-law, Yvonne Marissa Garcia Caldera; parents, Elias Caldera and Maria Elena Caldera; parents-in-law, Francis G. Castillo and Jose Isabel Castillo; Zoila Hernandez and Candelario Hernandez; sister, Thelma Caldera; and brothers, Elias Caldera Jr. and Lonnie Caldera.

Among those left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife of 46 years, Maria Theresa Caldera; his children, Heriberto Caldera Jr. (Brittney Perez); Cynthia Caldera (Andrew Meza); David Caldera (Daisy Caldera); Victor Caldera (Mari Carrales); Priscilla Caldera; Jessica Caldera (Antonio Vallejo); Selena Bermudez (Carlos Bermudez Jr.); Richard Caldera; and Juan Caldera (Camryn Miller); and his brothers, Rene Caldera Sr. (Melissa Caldera) and Guadalupe Caldera (Terry Caldera).

He will also be lovingly remembered by his many grandchildren, Deztinee Caldera, Heriberto Caldera III, Loriah Cortez, Dazeelyn Caldera, Deziraee Caldera, Delilah Caldera, Estrella Rivera, Nevaeh Rivera, Jaylah Caldera, Angel Zamora, David Ray Cantu, Jaklyn Caldera, Jason Caldera, Jacob Caldera, Cataleya Caldera, Caylee Caldera, Jayden Caldera, Jaxston Caldera, Natalie Hernandez, Dean Hernandez, Zueliya Moreno, Michael Moreno, Cain Martinez, Alyzah Vallejo, Antonio Vallejo, Audrina Vallejo, Dallas Garza, Carson Bermudez, Athena Bermudez, Iris Bermudez, Alexis Meza, Andrew Meza, and Adrian Meza; as well as his great-grandchildren, Harmony Chipps, Anna Currer, Elaina Zamora, and Daniel Mathew Reyes, Jr.

The family will receive condolences from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 30, 2026, at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary; with a holy rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. A funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 31, 2026, at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary. A rite of committal and interment will follow at Family Cemetery in Bishop, Texas .

Heriberto will be remembered for his big personality, his quick sense of humor, his love of dancing, and the genuine love he had for his family. He was a man who knew how to have a good time, make people laugh, and create memories that would last a lifetime.

Though his absence leaves a great void in the hearts of those who loved him, his laughter, stories, dancing, and unforgettable personality will live on through his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family, and friends.
