Gloria Rosse

Gloria Anne May Rosse, age 93, passed away November 3, 2019 in Kingsville, Texas. She was born on October 31, 1926 in Kingsville, Texas to Clarence and Sophie Sullivan May.

Gloria Ann was an inspiring example of keeping priorities straight- God, family, community. She was a member of St. Gertrude Parish for over 70 years, serving on the Parent-Teacher organization board, the Altar and Rosary Society, and other church and school organizations. She was a daily communicant. Gloria Anne loved sports and loved to watch her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews play. She loved the Spurs, Cowboys and the Astros (she obviously wasn’t tied to one City!). she was a member of the Kleberg Co Ladies Golf association. Always a loyal mother and grandmother, she was known for her “wall of fame” hallway- a wall completely covered by various sports pictures of her children and grandchildren all framed and mounted. Gloria Anne loved to travel and was up for a trip any time you invited her. She traveled over most of the U.S. and visited Canada and Mexico and went to Europe several times. She and O.D. took the family to Concan and Garner many times. She was always up for adding more teenagers to the group and she always fed everyone.

She attended Texas A&I and went to work in Houston for a couple of years. After marrying O.D. in 1947 on her birthday, she was a stay- at- home mom until her youngest was in high school. She worked temporarily for Schlumburger and then for many years at Safety Glass Company. After retiring, she spent several years taking care of her own mother.

She is preceded in death by her parents and husband, O.D. Rosse; grandson, Will Wearden; brothers, Clarence Edward May and Allen May; sisters, Dolores Boudreaux, Ramona May, and Elaine May; brothers-in-law, J.R. Womack, Frank Bourdreaux, Bill Coleman, Richard Castillo, and Mike Koch; and sister-in-law, Dorthella May.

Gloria Anne is survived by her children, Barbie (Jimmy) Respondek, Gloria (Frank) Wearden, Bette Henderson, Bertha McDowell, David Rosse, Rise Lynne (Chet) Roberts; brothers and sisters, Jean Marie Womack, Nancy Coleman, Laverne (Barbara) May, Dan (Kathy) May, Betty Lou Castillo, Nora Koch, Sophie (Randy) Farrar, Leonard (Katie) May; sister-in-law, Alice May; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great- great- grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Monday, November 4, 2019 from 5p.m.-9p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 7p.m. at St. Gertrude Catholic Church. A Funeral Mass will begin at 10a.m on Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at St. Gertrude Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Chamberlain Cemetery.
