Gerardo Caballero

Gerardo "Lalo" Caballero, known for his unwavering dedication to his work in the oilfields, passed away on July 21, 2024, in Stanton. He was born on November 28, 1966, in Brownsville, Texas.

Throughout his life, Lalo dedicated countless hours to laboring in the oilfields, often sacrificing time with his beloved wife and children. Despite the challenges of long days and nights at work, those close to him recall his immense pride and his unyielding dedication as a family man. The memories he leaves behind are a testament to his hardworking spirit and undeniable love for those closest to him. Beyond his professional life, Lalo cherished time spent with his family. He was a devoted family man who always put his loved ones first. His love knew no bounds, and he remained a pillar of strength for them even during challenging times when he himself felt sick or exhausted.

Lalo will be remembered for his stubborn yet resilient personality. He carried himself with a sense of pride that was well-earned through years of dedicated service in the oil fields. His unwavering commitment to his work garnered immense respect from all who knew him.

In his leisure time, Lalo found joy in simple pleasures such as spending time with his dogs, indulging in barbecues, savoring a cold beer, and engaging in outdoor yard work alongside his wife. He had a deep connection to ranch life and relished all activities related to the oilfields. Blowing things up may have been just one of many exciting hobbies that brought him joy.

Lalo is survived by his beloved wife Alicia Caballero; children Michael (Michelle) Chapa, Joshua Caballero, Michelle Caballero; grandchildren Jasmine, Damien, Darian, D'Nai, Trinity, Aria; siblings Jorge (Maribel) Caballero, Arturo Caballero Jr.; parents Antonio Chapa (Father-In-Law), America Chapa (Mother-In-Law), Arturo Caballero (Father), Yolanda (Gomez) Caballero (Mother), and a host of other relatives and friends.

Services to honor and celebrate the life of Gerardo "Lalo" Caballero will be held at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary in Kingsville. The visitation is scheduled for July 29th from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM followed by a Mass on July 30th starting at 10:00 AM.

In remembrance of Lalo's remarkable life and legacy as a hardworking individual with a heart full of love for his family and dedication to his profession – may he rest in peace.
