Evelyn Lucinda Dick, age 79, went to be with her Lord and Savior on December 31, 2025. As Scripture reminds us, “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.” Evelyn now rests in the care of her Good Shepherd. She was born on August 25, 1946, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, to Jack and Mary Trammel.
Evelyn was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ, and her life reflected a deep and abiding trust in Him. The Lord was her shepherd, guiding her throughout her life, and she walked in His peace. Her faith brought her comfort and strength, and she found great joy in spending time with her church family. Like the still waters spoken of in Psalm 23, she found rest and renewal in serving others with love. She especially delighted in sewing, quilting, baking, and canning—sharing these gifts generously with family and friends
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Cecil Roy Dick; son, James Caughman; grandson, Nicholas Caughman; parents; sister, Mary Trammel; and brothers, Thomas Trammel and Gerald Trammel. Though she walked through the valley of the shadow of death, she feared no evil, for the Lord was with her, and His presence brought her peace.
Evelyn is lovingly survived by her children Jack (Evelyn) Caughman, Lynn (Rick) Hampton, Lisa Losh, David (Renita) Dick, Theresa (John) Stahl, Charles (Kelly) Unch, Kimberly (Kevin) Wood, James (Alex) Unch, and Darlene (Mike) Burke. She is also survived by her siblings Duane Trammel, Norma (Bob) Ford, Bill (Linda) Trammel, Donna (Dennis) Steinman, and Donald (Bonnie) Trammel; sister-in-law, Ina Trammel; along with many cherished grandkids, nieces, and nephews, and her forever pup, Joy. Her cup overflowed with love, and that love continues through those she leaves behind.
A chapel service will be held at Turcotte-Piper Funeral Home in Kingsville, Texas, at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 17, 2026; followed by a Celebration of Life at First Baptist Church in Bishop, Texas, at 12:00 noon.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, where Evelyn will be laid to rest at Moodys Cemetery. We take comfort in knowing that goodness and mercy followed her all the days of her life, and now she dwells in the house of the Lord forever.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: First Baptist Church in Bishop, Texas in her memory.
