Evancio Gutierrez

Mr. Evancio “Evan” Gutierrez, Jr, beloved father, husband, and grandfather, passed away on September 16, 2023.  Born on August 3, 1944, Evan was a son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, cousin, and friend who led a remarkable life and touched the hearts of all who knew him with his wit and joyful sense of humor.

A native son of Kingsville, Texas, Evan married Anna Perez and began a life together working in Kingsville. After working for many years at Celanese in Bishop, Evan and Anna owned and operated a successful rental home business in Kingsville.

Throughout his life, Evan treasured his family above all else.  Evan never missed an opportunity to travel and visit with family or take in a Dallas Cowboys game with his cousins. He was a pillar of love and support for his family, always ready to help and welcome all with open arms and a warm smile.

Evan will be remembered for his welcoming nature, sense of humor, and infectious laughter.  He loved to play a pick-up game of basketball as well as a serious game of chess. He had a captivating smile and loved to kid around and just have fun. Fishing at Drum Point was another one of his passions.  His enthusiasm for life was contagious and shared by all who were fortunate to meet him.

Evan is preceded in death by his parents, Evencio and Aida Gutierrez; and brother, Frank Gutierrez.

Among those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Anna Gutierrez; daughters, Evelyn (David) Villarreal and Sandra (Henry Herrera) Gutierrez; son, Evan “Tress” (Stephanie Davenport) Gutierrez, III; sisters, Rosalinda Gutierrez, Leonore (Guadalupe) Fernandez, Aida (Henry) Bebon, Clara (Eddie) Garcia; and sister-in-law, Felicita Gutierrez; grandchildren, Zachary Villarreal, Matthew Villarreal, John Henry Herrera, Ethan Herrera, Marlena Gutierrez, Marina Gutierrez, Evan Gutierrez IV, and Tristan Gutierrez; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
