Esperanza Saenz

Esperanza Diaz de Leon Saenz (Dee), passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 10, 2019 in Kingsville, Texas. She was born August 8, 1943 in Robstown, Texas to Ignacio and Beatriz (Reyes) Diaz de Leon. Esperanza graduated from Robstown High School in 1963, she went on to graduate from Texas A&I University with a bachelor's degree in education in 1970, then a master's degree in education in 1978, went back to school and graduated from Texas A&M Kingsville with a master's in fine arts in 2011. She taught for 30 years in Brownsville, Robstown, and in Kingsville. She taught special education, Bilingual Education, science, art, and 4th grade. She was an active member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, Columbian Ladies, and Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority. She believed that everyone has talented. Her amazing talent came through both her teaching and her art. Dee was an amazing storyteller who enjoyed traveling and dancing. She was always ready for an adventure. Esperanza (Dee) was a loving and spirited wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She will be missed by all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Roberto, Ignacio, and Armando.
Esperanza is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, William (Bill) Saenz, daughter, Nora Lynn (Sean Eric) Cargo, grandchildren, Nicholas Saenz Cargo, Katherine de Leon Cargo, Christopher Valesko Cargo, two sisters, Maria Elena (Diaz de Leon) Alban, Beatriz (Diaz de Leon) Sierra, and one brother, Effren Diaz de Leon, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 13, 2019 from 5:00p.m.-9:00p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. that same evening at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary. Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, February 14, 2019 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Chamberlain Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions will be made to Guardian Angels Quilting Group at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in Kingsville, Texas.
Services are entrusted to Turcotte-Piper Mortuary, Kingsville, Texas.
