Ernan Gutierrez

Ernan Castillo Gutierrez, 78, passed away on February 4, 2021 in Kingsville, Texas. He was born on September 19, 1942 in Sarita, Texas to Seferino and Trinidad Gutierrez.

Ernan was a loving father, husband, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, and hero. Family was the most important part of Ernan’s life. He enjoyed visiting with family and attending as many family gatherings as possible.

Ernan served honorably in the United States Army. In his time serving our country, Ernan was awarded numerous medals and commendations. Among them the Purple Heart, Silver and Bronze medals, and National Defense Service Medal. He also served as Commander of the Last Patrol Ranch in Benavides, Texas from 2010 to 2014. His love for his country was as great as his love for family. Along with spending time with family, Ernan enjoyed fishing and an occasional trip to the casino. He had a gregarious smile and boisterous laugh. When the two combined, you knew you were in for a good time filled with love.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Seferino and Trinidad Gutierrez; brothers, Arturo, Benny, David, Seferino Gutierrez Jr.; and his sister, Lina Gutierrez.

Ernan is survived by his wife, Consuelo Gutierrez; sister, Aurora Pugh; brother, Jose Gutierrez; sons, Arnold (Yolanda) Gutierrez, Leroy (Bobbi) Gutierrez, Ernie (Traci) Gutierrez, and Dino (Mary) Gutierrez; 10 grandchildren, Arnold Jr., Corey, Alex, Anthony, Kelsey (Ross) Chapman, Bailey, Katarina, Sadie; 6 great-grandchildren, Riley, Dari, Leo, Jeremy, Sophia, and Madi.

Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, February 12, 2021 at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary with a rosary to begin at 7:00 p.m. Chapel service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary. Interment will follow at Riviera Cemetery.
