Enedina “Dina” Vasquez, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, Nana, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2025, at the age of 87 in Kingsville, Texas.
Born on July 4, 1937, in Palito Blanco, Texas, Enedina lived a life rooted in love, faith, and service. She was a woman of deep devotion and strength. Every morning after their morning coffee, she and her husband began the day in prayer, reciting the Holy Rosary and lifting up their family and friends in heartfelt intercession.
Enedina was known for her generosity, gentle spirit, and nurturing heart. She found joy in gardening, visiting the sick, and especially in preparing delicious meals for those she loved, especially “Grandma Dina’s soup.”
She leaves behind a beautiful legacy through her loving family: her daughter Imelda (Gilbert) Cardenas; her son Ray (Cindy) Vasquez Jr.; her grandchildren Ricky Vasquez II, Melanie Muñoz, Amanda (Eric) Perez, Emily E. Cardenas, Matthew Vasquez, and Bethany (Tyler) Kuhn; and her eight treasured great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings Maria Elisa (Douglas) Correl, Romulo Rene (Anita) Garcia, and Diana (Andy) Gonzalez; sisters-in-law Anabelle Garcia and Rosie Belt; her beloved cousin Ester Gutierrez; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Enedina was welcomed into eternal rest by her loving husband Raymundo Vasquez, her son Ricardo Vasquez, her parents Gildardo and Eloisa Garcia, and her brothers Gildardo and Yldefonso Garcia.
The Mass celebrating Enedina’s life will be held on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at St. Martin’s Catholic Church in Kingsville, Texas. A Rosary will be recited at 12:30 pm with a Funeral Mass to follow at 1:00 pm. After the services, Enedina will be laid to rest alongside her husband Raymundo at Hinojosa Cemetery in Palito Blanco, Texas.
The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to those who cared for Enedina with compassion and dignity, especially her in-home providers, the staff of Lonestar Ranch Nursing Home, Harbor Hospice, and Mark Grossman and Erionne Huff. Though she is no longer with us, her unwavering faith, generous heart, and boundless love will remain forever in our hearts.
