Emilia Delgado Ortiz

Emilia Delgado Ortiz, a beloved member of the community, passed away on January 9, 2024. Emilia was born on August 8, 1931, and throughout her long and fulfilling life, she touched the hearts of all those who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Emilia dedicated many years of her life as a cafeteria cook for Celanese. Her culinary skills were unmatched, and she was especially renowned for her delicious tamales and tortillas with refried beans. Every bite was filled with love and care, reflecting her passion for cooking and making others happy. Emilia's talent in the kitchen brought joy to countless individuals who had the privilege of indulging in her delectable creations.

Emilia treasured her family above all else; spending quality time with loved ones was her greatest joy in life. She adored it when her grandchildren visited, finding great joy in their company. The arrival of her great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren brought an even greater warmth to her heart. Emilia's loving nature created an atmosphere of love and unity whenever she was surrounded by family.

Known for being a kind and welcoming soul, Emilia had an extraordinary ability to make everyone feel at ease in her presence. Her gentle demeanor combined with a nurturing spirit made her a pillar of support for those around her. Through both joyous and challenging times, Emilia extended a helping hand and offered words of comfort to anyone who sought solace.

When home, Emilia could often be found nestled in front of the television, watching novelas and lucherias. With each episode she watched, she found herself immersed in captivating stories that transported her to different worlds. As she enjoyed those enchanting tales play out before her eyes, Emilia savored the flavors of chicharrón’s that accompanied these moments of relaxation.

Emilia Delgado Ortiz will forever be remembered as a loving and kind-hearted individual who radiated warmth wherever she went. We find peace in knowing that Emilia's legacy lives on through the countless lives she touched and the love she shared.  May her spirit find eternal peace, and may we carry forward the lessons of love and kindness that Emilia taught us. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

The family will receive condolences from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 14, 2024, at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary in Kingsville, Texas; with a holy rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m.  A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 15, 2024, at St. James Catholic Church, Bishop, TX.  A rite of committal and interment will follow at St. James Catholic Cemetery, Bishop, TX.
