Obituary

Elan Jose Mendietta Perez, 35, of Kingsville, Texas, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by the love of his family on March 10, 2026. He was born on August 18, 1990, in Corpus Christi, Texas, to Erasmo Perez and Belinda Perez.

Elan was a kind and intelligent person who possessed knowledge in many subjects and enjoyed learning about the world around him. He graduated from H.M. King High School and later attended Texas A&M University–Kingsville. Elan had a unique personality and sense of humor that brought joy and laughter to those who knew him. He was truly a character whose presence made every gathering more memorable.

Elan loved spending time with his family and friends and treasured the moments they shared together. He enjoyed going out to eat, video gaming, card games, and collecting items that interested him, especially tennis shoes, clothing, and collectible figures. His passions and hobbies reflected his vibrant personality and curiosity.

He was preceded in death by his father, Erasmo Perez Jr.; his maternal grandparents, Elva B. Mendietta and Jose Enrique Mendietta; and his paternal grandparents, Erasmo Perez Sr. and Estella Perez.

Elan is survived by his loving mother, Belinda Perez; his stepfather, Robert Schmidt; his brother, Erasmo Eli Perez (Alexandra); and his beloved nieces, Avery Rose, Lillianna Belle, and Huntley Bryn. He is also survived by his step-sister, Tracy Paris (Brad); his aunt, Sylvia Ann Cantu (Roy); his uncles, Ernie Perez and Robert Flores; his cousins, Dante Lorenzo Cantu (Amber) and Eloise Montgomery; along with many extended family members and friends who will forever cherish his memory.

The family will receive condolences beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at St. Gertrude the Great Catholic Church. A holy rosary will be recited at 10:15 a.m., followed by a mass of christian burial at 11:00 a.m.at the church. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at Chamberlain Cemetery.

Elan will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to New Century Hospice staff for all the compassionate caregivers who provided Elan with comfort, dignity, and care during his illness.
