Dubelza Paiz Hinojosa, a dear wife, mother, and grandmother went to be with the Lord on March 18, 2024. She was born in Hebbronville, Texas on June 5, 1942, to Juan and Ysabel Paiz.
In 1961, Dubelza married her high school sweetheart Manuel Hinojosa Jr. On August 30, 2023, Dubelza and Manuel celebrated their 62nd anniversary. During all her years Dubie, as she was fondly called by her close friends, was a creative seamstress, baker, and cook. Her guests were always served a slice of homemade goods, and you left with a container filled with her banana nut muffins. It was not uncommon for her to show up to her doctor appointments with a loaf of banana bread to share with the nurses. Christmas time around her house always meant that her lady fingers and pan de polvo cookies would be stored in tins ready to share with her holiday guests. To this day, no family member has been able to replicate those sandy, melt in your mouth cookies.
Grandma Dubie was also dedicated to her three grandchildren, Ezekiel “Zeke” Hinojosa, Mia Hinojosa, and Isaac Segura. She attended football games, in cold rainy weather, baseball games in the spring and summer, and supported Mia’s cheerleading from the sidelines. She always made sure to sport the team colors to support all three grandchildren.
Dubie was a devout member of the Bishop Church of Christ where she met wonderful ladies and dear friends. Together they would have their “crafty ladies” gatherings and shared many potluck lunches. She could always be counted on to assist with church weddings and baby showers. Her kindness and generosity were an inspiration to all who knew her.
Dubelza Hinojosa is survived by her loving husband Manuel Hinojosa Jr; son Juan Manuel Hinojosa and daughter in law, Elisa of Castroville, TX; daughter Veronica Hinojosa Segura and son in law, Steve of Austin, Tx; Grandchildren Ezekiel “Zeke” Hinojosa, M.D. and his wife Sara Yasrebi, M.D. of Houston, Tx; Mia Hinojosa, student at Tulane University in New Orleans, and Isaac Segura, student at South Texas College of Law in Houston, Tx. Her dear nephews, Ramon Paiz, Jr. (Anna), Jose Emilio Paiz (Michelle), and Ricky Paiz (Josie); and loving nieces, Alma Paiz Renteria (Edward), Irma Rea (Refugio), and Ana Laura Paiz; half-brother Johnny Paiz, half sister Maria Paiz, numerous nephews, and nieces from the Hinojosa and Soliz family and extended nephews and nieces from the Paiz family.
Preceded in death by her mother, Ysabel Zuniga Paiz and father, Juan B. Paiz (Angelina); her brothers Ramon Paiz (Rosa), Guadalupe Paiz (Eloisa), and Homero Paiz (Alicia). Dubelza leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion that lives on in the hearts of her family and friends.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Dubelza Paiz Hinojosa will be held on March 24, 2024, at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary in Kingsville, TX. Visitation will take place at 9:00 a.m.; followed by a ceremony beginning at 10:00 a.m. An interment to follow at Restland Cemetery.
A heartful of gratitude is extended to the entire staff at Landon Ridge Assisted Living in San Antonio, TX, and the caring staff at Transcend Hospice. The daily care they provided touched the hearts of Dubelza and her family. The memory of Dubie will forever be cherished and will never be forgotten. May she rest in peace, reunited with her loved ones who have gone before her.
Honoring her as pallbearers are Zeke Hinojosa, Isaac Segura, Ramon Paiz, Felix Paiz, Jose Paiz, and Thomas McElroy.
