It is with a heavy heart that the family of Dr. George David Alexander announces his passing on Tuesday, August 21, 2018, at the age of 86. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Evelyn; his daughters, Lisa (Jesse) McFarland, Kim (Kevin) Davis; step-daughters, Renee (Harold) Trip, and Letisa McKenzie. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Reed and Grayson Maness, Rhett and Ashlyn Davis, and Trey Trip, along with his sister, Pauline Nowell, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, George David and Bertie Francis Alexander.
George was born in Wolfe City, Texas, on December 14, 1931, to George David & Bertie Francis Alexander. After serving in the United States Army, George obtained his Bachelors, Masters, and PhD from East Texas State University in Commerce. After teaching in the public school system in Pt. Neches-Groves, he taught at the university level in the Department of Education at Texas A&M University- Kingsville until his retirement.
He was an active volunteer and supporter of Bandina Christian Youth Camp, Texas A&M-Kingsville Women's Athletics, Kleberg County Trap & Skeet Range, Kingsville First Baptist Church, and Kingsville Visitors' Center.
A celebration of George's life will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, August 25th at the First Baptist Church in Kingsville. Family visitation will be before services at 9:00 am. In lieu of floral tributes, the family invites you to make a memorial donation in Dr. George Alexander's name to Bandina Christian Youth Camp c/o Jerry Bishop, PO Box 3383 Alice, TX 78333.
The family would like to extend a special "Thank You" to Kevin and Liz at Kingsville Nursing and Rehabilitation.
Services are entrusted to Turcotte-Piper Mortuary, 205 General Cavazos Blvd. Kingsville, Tx 78363.
