Dona Harris

Dona Clayton Harris, 83, passed away August 3, 2020 with her family by her side in San Antonio, Texas. She was born November 30, 1936 to J.E. & Marie Clayton in Olney, Texas.  Dona attended Katy High School in Katy, Texas where she met Jack Harris, the love of her life.  They married June 10, 1955 and began their life together as Jack worked for Humble/Exxon.  They moved to Kingsville, Texas in 1963 and lived there until she moved to San Antonio in 2014.

Dona was affectionately known by those who loved her as “Gran.”  She and Jack were avid Javelina fans, traveling across the country to attend football and basketball games.  Jack’s camera and Gran’s homemade cookies were staples of the Javelina community.  Gran also loved the San Antonio Spurs and watched the silver and black as much as possible.

Gran was a doting grandmother to her four grandchildren and followed all of their endeavors of sports, school functions, and life events.  She always loved a good party.

Dona was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Kingsville, the Woman’s Club of Kingsville and the Tejas Dance Club.  She loved spending time at the family ranch in Stephenville, Texas.

She is survived by her daughter Pamela Cundiff and her husband, Richard, daughter Paula Turcotte and her husband, James.  Her grandchildren, Clayton Turcotte and his fiancé, Laura, Parker Cundiff, Caitlin Underbrink and her husband, Lawrence, Nicholas Turcotte and his wife, Erin, sister Estelle McFarland and her husband, Jon, and a host of family and friends. She was preceded in death by parents J.E. and Marie Clayton, and her husband, Jack.

A visitation will be held Friday, August 7th from 5:00pm-8:00pm at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary.

Due to Covid-19, family members will not be in attendance, but they encourage you to show your respects and ask that everyone wear face masks and respect the rules of social distancing.

A private graveside service will be held for immediate family on Saturday, August 8th at 10:00am in Chamberlain Cemetery.
