Delores L. Hunter

Delores L. Hunter, a beloved member of the community, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2025, at the age of 88. Born on May 25, 1937, in Lufkin, Texas, Delores dedicated herself selflessly to helping others as a dietitian for Retama Manor Nursing. With her warm spirit and kind demeanor, she became a cherished figure in her community, touching countless lives through her passion for nurturing the health and well-being of those around her.

Delores was known for her welcoming nature, always making others feel at ease. Her home, filled with the delicious aroma of her cooking, was a sanctuary for family and friends alike. She had a special talent for preparing meals, and her pinto beans were legendary. Those lucky enough to share a meal with Delores not only enjoyed delightful food but also the laughter and love that surrounded her dining table.

Her biggest joy was spending time with her family, who were the center of her heart. Delores had the biggest heart of all and loved her family dearly. Her kindness and generosity extended beyond her immediate family to friends and neighbors, often lending a helping hand to those in need. She will be remembered for her unwavering support and the sincere love she gave, which left an indelible mark on everyone she met.

Delores L. Hunter's essence will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Her legacy of kindness, generosity, and love will continue to inspire all of us to carry forward her great compassion for others.

She was preceded in death by her grandson, Calvin Spencer Hunter; parents, Clarence Willims, Sr. and Eva Woods Mack; and brother, Clarence Finley Williams, Jr.

Among those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Bonnie Hunter and Suzanne Hunter; granddaughter, Latonya Johnson (Jerald); cousin, Arthur Woods; and numerous great-grandchildren and great nieces.

A wake in Delores's memory will be held at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary in Kingsville, Texas, on September 12, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Following the service, a graveside service will take place at Chamberlain Cemetery at 1:30 PM, where family and friends will gather to honor her remarkable life.
