David T. Perez, III

David T. Perez, III, a beloved son, brother, and friend, bid farewell to this world on April 10, 2024. He was born on June 13, 1974, to Emma T. Perez and David A. Perez, Jr., and left a mark on those who knew him that will never fade.

David's life was one filled with profound accomplishments and cherished moments. He pursued his education diligently and graduated from H.M. King High School before attaining a Bachelor's degree in Arts from Texas A&M University-Kingsville. His academic prowess was recognized with awards such as the Academic Achiever from Caller Times and the Presidential Academic Fitness Awards, highlighting his dedication to excellence even in the face of personal challenges.

Beyond academia, David had a love for writing poems and short stories, immersing himself in the world of literature. He found joy in connecting with friends online through platforms like Facebook, illustrating his sociable nature. A food enthusiast, David frequented his favorite restaurant "El Tap" where he enjoyed delicious meals with family and friends. Sports held a special place in David's heart as he passionately followed his favorite football team, the Houston Texans, baseball team, and the Houston Astros. He could be found tailgating and attending the local university Javelina games. In his leisure time, David could also be found unwinding while watching his favorite shows on TV. These shared interests brought him closer to friends and family alike.

David's journey was not without its challenges, stemming from dealing with physical disabilities resulting from a brain tumor. Despite these obstacles, he continued to maintain a positive attitude and excel academically and even had several publications documenting his achievements and struggles. He was presented the Presidential Academic Fitness Award in recognition of his extraordinary effort to achieve academic excellence and to meet the goals of the program. In 1993, David was also named Academic Achiever by Corpus Christi Caller Times in recognition of his unfaltering ability to achieve his personal best despite obstacles and challenges.

David will be deeply missed by his surviving family members: mother Emma Villarreal; stepfather Humberto Villarreal; siblings Christina Garcia (Peter), AnnMarie Salazar, Elizabeth Speckman (Shawn), and Jose Luis Perez (Brenda); nieces and nephews Sabrina Ojeda (Jesse), Estevan Salazar Jr., Alyssa Maldonado, Matthew Perez, Emma Lynn Maldonado, Olivia Maldonado, Isabella Perez, Leyton Garza, Michael Anthony Perez Jr., Brianna Garcia, Victoria Garcia, and Ruth Garcia; along with numerous cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends.

He is now reunited with his father David Perez Jr., grandparents Estanislado Torrez, Hortencia Torrez, David Perez Sr., Maria Luisa Alvarez; aunt Mary Jane Sandoval; and cousin JoAnn Sandoval Trevino - who have gone before him.

The services honoring David T. Perez III will be held at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary on April 17, 2024, with a Rosary beginning at 3:00 PM, followed by a Funeral Service at 4:00 PM. These services will give family and friends the opportunity to come together and reflect on the remarkable life and cherished memories of David.

David's presence may no longer grace this earth, but his spirit remains alive in the stories shared by those who knew and treasured him. As we bid farewell to a remarkable man, let us remember him not with sorrow but with gratitude for the light he brought into our lives. May he rest in eternal peace.
