David N. Flores, beloved husband, father, brother, friend, and community member, passed away on August 1, 2026, at the age of 65. Born on August 25, 1960, David lived a life marked by generosity, unwavering kindness, and dedication to others.

David’s journey began with a spirited upbringing, which shaped the man he would become—strong, resilient, and deeply caring. His commitment to personal excellence was evident from his earliest years. A proud graduate, David earned his BS in General Business from Texas A&I University, establishing a strong foundation for his future endeavors. His education paved the way for a remarkable 32-year career with Frito Lay, where he was known for his integrity, diligence, and unwavering dedication. Colleagues respected him for his reliability, his ready smile, and his willingness to help with any task, no matter how great or small it was.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, David found immense joy in serving as a softball umpire for 20 years, ensuring that the game was played fairly and enthusiastically. His passion for sports extended far beyond officiating; as a young man, David was a gifted athlete. Honored as an All-District Basketball Honoree for H.M. King High and celebrated as both a softball and baseball player, he achieved the remarkable distinction of “Home Run King” in 1978, a milestone that brought pride to him and those who knew his athletic ability.

David’s passions brought people together. He found immense joy in BBQing, landscaping, watching sports, and, above all, in helping everyone he could. Family, friends, neighbors, and acquaintances alike were drawn to his generosity and steadfast support. David’s home was a place of laughter, good food, and open doors, reflecting his selfless nature and enduring love for those around him.

Those who knew David remember him most fondly for his playful spirit and his ability to make people laugh. Every gathering was brightened by his good humor and joyful presence. He was a constant source of strength—selfless, generous, and always the first to show up for those in need, regardless of circumstances. David’s honesty and giving heart left an indelible mark, and everyone who encountered him knew him as a hardworking, kind, and loving individual.

Among all his accomplishments, David was most proud of his family. Their love and unity were his true legacy, and he dedicated his life to supporting, encouraging, and uplifting those he cherished most.

David N. Flores touched countless lives with his warmth, optimism, and spirit of service. As we remember him, we celebrate everything he shared—the love, the laughter, and the many ways he showed up for others. His memory lives on in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know him.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Melissa “Gumby” Flores; parents, Adan Gonzales and Elodia (Narvaez) Flores; and brother-in-law, Ramon Orona

Among those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Julie Ruiz; children, Christopher (Jade) of San Marcos, TX, Michael (Tiffany) of San Antonio, TX, Amanda, Aaron David, and Jason David of Kingsville, TX; siblings, Diana Orona of Kingsville, TX, Adan Jr. (Linda) of Kingsville, TX, Bobby Flores (Rebecca) of Kingsville, TX, Danny Flores (Dorota) of Corpus Christi, TX, Dr. Steve Flores (David) of Kingsville, TX, and Jeannie Espinoza (JoJo) of Kingsville, TX; grandchildren, Zane Fuentes, Olivia Peterson, George Ruiz, Kai Ruiz, Luke Ruiz, and Leo Ruiz; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended families and many friends.

The family will receive condolences from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary; with a holy rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. A funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 7, 2026, at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary. A rite of committal and interment will follow at Chamberlain Cemetery.
