Corando Benavides

Corando San Miguel "Benny" Benavides - dedicated husband, father of one, - passed away peacefully in his sleep on December 24, 2022, at the age of 83 in Corpus Christi, Texas. Corando was born to Domingo and Eloisa Benavides in Chapman Ranch, Texas. He started his Army career in 1956 and met his lifelong partner and love of his life, Hyon Suk "Kim" Benavides. Married in 1966 and remained so until his passing. After retiring from the Army with 20 years of service, Corando also retired from the Department of Defense. He enjoyed fishing with friends & family, an avid loyal Cowboys fan, whose hero John Wayne (American film actor) had similar ruggedness as Corando.

Corando was preceded in death by his parents Domingo and Eloisa; brothers and sister, Alvaro, David and Irma Wiggins.

He is survived by his wife, Hyon Suk "Kim,"; daughter, Ulrike and husband Mike Janzou; brother Abelardo and wife Rosie; sister, Aurora Stephenson; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and cousins.

The family will receive condolences at 10:00 am on Friday, December 30, 2022, at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary; with a Celebration of Life at 11:00 am. A rite of committal with full military honors will take place at 1:00 pm at Coastal Bend Veterans Cemetery, Corpus Christi, TX.
