Coatney McGee, a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, and US Navy veteran, passed away peacefully at his home on July 17, 2024. He was surrounded by his cherished family members who brought him comfort in his final moments.

Born in Tenaha, Texas on October 24, 1937, Coatney led a fulfilling life dedicated to serving his country and nurturing relationships with those around him. After graduating from high school, he bravely served in the US Navy before retiring to pursue his passions. Coatney had a knack for fishing, carpentry, and working on cars - hobbies that brought him immense joy and fulfillment. Alongside him throughout his journey was his loving wife, Myrtle M. McGee, who shared in his joys and supported him every step of the way. Together, they created a warm and welcoming home where their children could grow and thrive.

Coatney will be deeply missed by his sons, Coatney McGee Jr. and Demetrius McGee, his daughter Tamoco Cornell, his grandchildren Otis, Ashleigh, Brandi, Sadie, Jaqueline, Jazmin, Jazlyn, Lauren, and Demetrius Jr., along with numerous great grandchildren. Together, they carry on Coatney's legacy of love and kindness. Coatney will be remembered for his kind heart, unwavering determination, and infectious laughter that could light up any room. His legacy of loyalty, strength, and love will continue to inspire all those who were fortunate enough to have known him. He is preceded in death by his beautiful, loving wife Myrtle M. McGee, and his parents Robert and Larece McGee.

Rest in peace, Coatney McGee. Your legacy will endure through the memories you created and the lives you touched. May your soul find eternal peace and may your memory be a blessing to us all.
