Clifton Rose, a beloved husband, father, and educator, passed away, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and dedication. A proud graduate of Texas A&M Kingsville, he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Political Science in 2008. For 10 years, Mr. Rose dedicated himself to shaping young minds at H.M. King Early College High School, where his humor and warmth made an indelible impact on countless students and colleagues alike.
Anyone who had the privilege of knowing Mr. Rose will describe him as a humorously sarcastic man, a man who knew it all, with a welcoming spirit, and always the first to say “Get to class.” which resonated in the hallways. At home, you would hear the echoes of 80s music, where he could often be found in his favorite chair, where he was either engaged in needlepoint, lost in the pages of a book, or cheering for either the Alabama College Football or Premier League fútbol.
Clifton's love for his family was profound. He treasured the moments spent planning family trips to Camp Karankawa, where they attended scouting events and other family events. His love for his family and dogs didn’t go unnoticed, most notably a water-fearing pup, Cassie, who brought joy to their household when they picked her up on the way back to Texas from New York. If you ever wanted to put a smile on Mr. Rose, all you had to talk about was the Alabama Crimson Tide Football team, Manchester United fútbol, history, Snoopy, or The Muppets. If you were very quiet and sneaky, you might find him singing along to The Muppets song.
He is survived by his loving wife, Lisa Marie Rose; his sons, Aaron D. Holthouser, Austin M. Holthouser, and C. Laurence Rose Jr.; his daughter-in-law, Jessica Holthouser; and his precious grandson, Daniel E. Holthouser. Clifton is also survived by his father, Victor L. Rose Jr.; step-mother, Patricia A. Rose; mother, Amanda B. Brown; step-father, Turner P. Brown; and siblings, Shannon Mooney, Jamie White, Christa Parker, and Ben Fletcher.
Clif will be deeply missed by all, including his family, co-workers, and the many students whose lives he touched. As we come together to celebrate his life, may we honor his memory by continuing to live with the kindness and welcoming spirit Mr. Rose showed every day. Gone from our sight, but never from our hearts.
The family will receive condolences on Sunday, September 14, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary; with a Memorial Service starting at 3:00 p.m.
