Cipriano Escobedo

Cipriano ‘Piano’ Escobedo entered eternal rest on October 8, 2022, at the age of 92. He was born on July 2, 1930, in San Diego, Tx to Eusebio and Carlota Escobedo. After the death of his parents, he was raised by Samuel and Virginia Garcia. He began working with the King Ranch at the age of 9 building and maintaining fences. He held many positions including milkman, cowboy and bus driver escorting residents of the King Ranch to the Kingsville clinic before settling with Mr. and Mrs. James H. Clement. After many dedicated years of service, he retired leaving behind a legacy all his own.

He is proceeded in death by his son Cipriano ‘Cippy’ S. Escobedo; parents, Eusebio and Carlota Escobedo; sisters, Maria and Trinidad; brothers Francisco, Nicolas, Jesus and Carlos Escobedo; great-grandchildren Teresa Maria Saldaña and Matias Raziel Escobedo.

Among those left to cherish his memories are his wife of nearly 72 years Petra ‘Pita’ S. Escobedo of Kingsville, Tx; children, Eusebio (Veronica) Escobedo of Kingsville, Tx, Carlos (Norma) Escobedo of Kerrville, Tx, and Elma (Gabriel) Zamora of Kingsville, Tx; brother, Joe ‘Chepe’ T. (Dora) Garcia of Kingsville, Tx; sister, Elida Buentello of La Porte, Tx; 11 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive condolences on Wednesday, October 12, 2022, at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM; with a holy rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Thursday, October 13, 2022, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. A Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at Chamberlain Cemetery.
