Charles Woelfel

Charles Woelfel, 83, of Bryan, Texas, formerly of Kingsville, Texas, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Saturday April, 22, 2017. Charles was born on June 24, 1933, to Carl Albert Woelfel and Meta Adele Handrick Woelfel in Three Rivers, Texas. He was baptized on July 2, 1933, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Three Rivers, Texas. He moved to Kingsville with his family in 1942 and confirmed his Baptismal vows on March 30, 1947 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Kingsville, Texas. He graduated from King High School, Kingsville, Texas. He served two years in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955 and graduated from Texas A&I University in 1959. Charles married Alberta Ruth Kieschnick on November 10, 1956, in Vernon, Texas. He went to work for Northrup King & Company in 1961 in agronomic and vegetable seed sales and retired in May of 2000 from Novartis Companies. He was also a part-time farmer and rancher. Charles was an active member and servant of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Kingsville, and in later years, a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, College Station, Texas. He loved and cherished his family and was a good provider for his wife and family instilling his core values of honesty, hard work, and self-reliance in his children. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Virginia Schubert.
Charles leaves behind his loving wife of 60 years, Ruth; two daughters, Monica Irick (Justin) and Barbara Chastain (Tom); sons, Tim Woelfel (Terri) and John Woelfel (Stacie); 11 grandchildren: Jordan, Chance, Lauren, Jeff, Noel, Lisa, Greyson, Kenzie, Alyssa, Braedon, and Caelon; 5 great-grandchildren; brother, Stanley Woelfel (Sylvia); sister, Betty Ann Alexander; and numerous nieces and nephews.
(Visitation) A time for family to receive friends will be held from 9-10 AM on Thursday, April 27, 2017, at St. Paul Lutheran Church- Kingsville, with funeral services beginning at 10 AM. Interment will follow at Chamberlain Cemetery
The family would like to thank the dedicated caregivers and nurses who cared for Charles during his lengthy illness, as well as Pastor Michael Hafer for his spiritual care.
