Carol Smith

Carol Ann Smith was born on September 27, 1939. She was the first of three children born to Katie and Holland Collins in Houston Texas. Carol moved with her parents to Kingsville Texas in her early years. Carol lived in many places but spent most of her years in Pleasanton, Palacios and Kingsville. Carol resided at The Heights of Atascosa in Pleasanton Texas until her passing on December 31, 2022.

Carol’s Christian faith was a strong one and when she no longer could attend church, she became a prayer warrior and would pray daily for her children and grandchildren.

Carol worked for the Palacios Police Department, Jourdanton Sheriff’s Department, and the San Antonio school district as a dispatcher for many years.

While in Palacios she became a member of the VFW Post 2467.

She loved to sing and spent the last year singing to the resident and nurses with her best roommate Diane Martinez. Those two were a pair. If you didn’t know a name of an actor or actress from an old western, she could tell you, she knew them all. Her children could tell her favorite hobby had to be shopping at Walmart.

She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Ray Collins; sister, Linda Webb; two sons, Rusty Edwards and Douglas Smith.

Among those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Wayne (Darlene) Biffle of Palacios Tx; Kenneth (Lynn) Smith of Arlington Ga.; daughter, Barbara Smith of Pleasanton Tx; sister-in-law, Patty Collins of Pleasanton Tx. She had 12 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren whom she loved receiving pictures of them on her Frameo.

Pall bearers will be her grandsons Chad Smith, Jay Smith, Brant Biffle, Cameron Biffle, Nathan Biffle and Cross Espinosa.

The family will receive condolences on Saturday, January 7, 2023, at 1:00 PM at Turcotte Piper Mortuary. A graveside service will be at 2:00 PM at Resthaven Cemetery in Kingsville, Tx.

Carol’s family would like to thank the staff at The Heights for the wonderful care she received and all the “special privileges” she was given.
