After a long illness, Brittany L. Stewart passed away into the loving arms of our Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ, on May 3, 2026, at the age of 36.
Brittany was born & raised in Kingsville, Texas, where she attended KISD & early on in her education, received numerous academic awards. At Gillette Intermediate in Music class, Brittany was taught how to play the Recorder, a stepping stone to playing the trumpet at Memorial Jr High. She played & marched throughout HS with the Mighty Brahma Band. During that time in January of 2005, the band went to the Orange Bowl. In 2006, Brittany was given the opportunity to audition & was accepted for the debut of Macy's Great American Marching Band in NYC. Brittany graduated from HMK with honors in 2008. After graduating high school, Brittany attended TAMUK to pursue a degree in Music & marched with the Javelina Band. Later, she changed her major to Education, but eventually earned her Business degree in 2018.
Brittany had a passion for cooking & could literally make something out of nothing. She loved all her pets, present & past. Brittany was a Loving mother. A Loving partner, daughter, sister & friend. She was beautiful, bright, intelligent, talented, & passionate. Brittany held various jobs throughout her young life, but her most important job was being a Mother & raising her son, EJ.
Brittany is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Ruby Mae & Douglas Stewart Jr of Llano, Texas. Her maternal grandparents, Ben & Joyce Stuart of Biloxi, Mississippi. Mary Ruth (Stuart) Chumchal of Schertz, Texas, and many other family members. They were waiting for her with open arms at Heaven's Gate.
Brittany is survived by her parents, Jack & Deborah Stewart of Kingsville, Texas. Erik Canales, her common law husband & their son Erik Canales Jr (EJ) of Kingsville, Texas. Christopher, her oldest brother, his wife Beckie, & their sons Jacob and Jonathan, of Kingsland, Texas. David, her older brother, Sabrina Garcia, his common law wife & their two sons, Sean Garcia and Mason Stewart of Kingsville, Texas. Geraldine Garrett, Grandmother of Seligman, Missouri. As well as numerous Aunts, Uncles & Cousins.
To honor Brittany's life, the family will receive condolences on Friday, May 22, 2026, starting at 11:00 AM with a Holy Rosary to begin at 1:00 PM with a Liturgy of the Word to follow at 1:30 PM, all taking place at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers or plants, please make a donation in Brittany's memory to her favorite charities, Ark (Animal) or Animal Shelter. Or, to one of her fellow bands, the HM King Brahma Band or the TAMUK Javelina Band.
