Bobby Joe Bumgarner

Bobby Joe Bumgarner, an amazingly wonderful husband, father, brother, uncle, friend, and mentor, passed away on July 20, 2023. He was born January 15, 1980 to Manuela Estrada Bumgarner in Corpus Christi, Texas. Bobby found the love of his life, Melelanie, in 1997. Two years later, in 1999, they welcomed their first child, Christian, into the world. In 2010, they were blessed with their daughter, Madison, and their family had become complete.

Bobby was a hardworking man who provided well for his family. He was very close to his work family and loved them the way he loved his family at home. Bobby began his oilfield career in 1998, working offshore with Maine Drilling, and in 2000, began his work on land rigs with Patterson Drilling. Bobby worked his way up to Driller and was given the opportunity to become a rig manager/tool pusher with Nomac Drilling. He took the opportunity, and in 2017 Patterson UTI Drilling acquired Nomac Drilling, where Bobby continued to work as a rig manager until the day of his passing. His strong work ethic and devotion helped shape and mold many men in the oilfield industry as well as his children.

One of Bobby's greatest accomplishments was raising his two children. He was there to witness his son, Christian, turn into a strong, independent man, and his daughter, Madison, blossom into a beautiful young lady. Bobby enjoyed celebrating life events and holidays surrounded by his friends and family. He loved to have his nieces and nephews over for easter egg hunts during easter, pumpkin carving in October, and games and fun at Christmastime.  Bobby enjoyed fishing on his boat and gambling at casinos with his family. He especially loved hosting weekend BBQs and listening to music with his friends and family while he enjoyed an ice-cold beer in the backyard.

As we reflect upon the life of Bobby Joe Bumgarner and bid farewell to this remarkable man who brought joy to all who knew him, let us remember the lessons he taught us – to work hard, to cherish family, and to find happiness in life's simplest pleasures. Bobby's legacy will forever be alive in the hearts of those he leaves behind. May his soul find eternal rest, knowing that his impact on this world was immeasurable.

Bobby is preceded in death by his mother, Manuela Estrada Bumgarner.

Among those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Melelanie Bumgarner; his dear children Christian and Madison Bumgarner; siblings, Ronnie (Debbie) Hinajosa, Cynthia (Jerry) Hinajosa, Debbie Bumgarner, Frank (Lorena) Bumgarner, Juan (Melissa) Hinajosa, Arturo (Corina) Gutierrez, Jennifer Vela, and Norma (Rolando) Vela; along with cousins, nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
