Billy Horak, 92, of Kingsville, Texas, passed away on February 16, 2026. Just days later, his daughter, Darla Horak, 60, of Kingsville, Texas, passed away on February 21, 2026, following a brief illness. Their passing within days of one another has brought deep sorrow to their family and all who knew them. Soon after, Billy's son and Darla's brother soon fell ill afterwards.
Billy was born in October 1934 to Frank and Olga (Adamek) Horak and was raised in Ricardo, Texas, him and his siblings being born on the family farm. He was proud of his Texas roots and his strong Czech heritage. Billy enjoyed fishing, NASCAR racing, and supporting his son Billy, Jr. motocross bike racing. In his early years, he grew up on the family farm just south of Kingsville with his older brother and younger sister, assisting with the many chores around the farm.
Billy was a 1954 graduate of H. M. King High School in Kingsville, Texas. After graduating he married the love of his life, Alice Ann Richardson of Kingsville, then he enlisted in the U.S. Army shortly after his older brother. Following his military service, he retired from Hygeia Dairy after 27 years, then went to work for Jay Jay Well Service, which eventually merged into Schlumberger and retired. It was in Kingsville that Billy and Alice Ann raised their children, Billy J. Horak Jr. and Darla Ann Horak.
Billy and Darla were preceded in death by their parents and grandparents, Frank and Olga (Adamek) Horak; Billy's wife and Darla’s mother, Alice Ann (Richardson) Horak; sister and aunt, Doris (Horak) Wallis; brother and uncle, Edwin Horak; and daughter/sister-in-law Michelle Bonser Horak.
They are survived by Billy’s son and Darla’s brother, Billy J. Horak Jr. of Kingsville; nephews James (Donna) Horak of Belton, Texas, and their son, Michael; and Frank (Connie) Horak of Holland, Texas, and their children, Jacob (MaKayla) Horak and daughter Leilani of Georgetown, Texas, and Shelby Horak of Temple, Texas.
Funeral services for Billy Horak and Darla Horak will be holding an open casket on Monday, March 16, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. till 2:00 p.m. at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary in Kingsville, a funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. with family and friends gathering to honor and remember their lives. Burial will follow at Chamberlain Cemetery.
The family wishes to thank all who have offered prayers, support, patience, and kindness during this difficult time.
