Betty Jean (Deaver) Grant, lovingly known as Grandma B, was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on April 29, 2026, in Kingsville, Texas, at the age of 87.
Betty was born on January 3, 1939, in Calallen, Texas. She lived a life full of laughter, love, and treasured memories that will forever be held close by those who knew her. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 63 years, Don Grant; her parents, Lillie Mae and Eugene D. Deaver; and her brother, Joe T. Deaver.
She is lovingly survived by her devoted daughters, Kim Fancher (Powell) and Penny Merriman; her cherished grandchildren, Shelby (Travis) Johnson, Preston (Kylee) Merriman, and Cameron Merriman; and her precious great-grandchildren, Olivia Johnson, Walker Johnson, Amelia Johnson, and Grant Merriman. She also leaves behind her dear sister, Edith (Gary) Tinsley, and her loving brother, David (Pam) Deaver, along with many extended family members and friends who were blessed by her life.
Grandma B cherished the time spent with family. She was deeply involved in the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and took immense pride in their accomplishments. Her love, encouragement, and prayers surrounded them always.
Betty graduated from Bishop High School in 1957, and later moved to Robstown and worked at Robstown Savings and Loan. It was there that she met and married Don, who worked at the Bank of Robstown. After a few years, they moved to Sinton where they started their family. In 1982, they relocated to Calallen, and in 2003, they made Kingsville their home to be close to their grandsons.
Grandma B was well known for her famous pound cake, carrot cake, and brownies, often blessing others through these sweet homemade treats. She enjoyed playing Bunco and card games, baking, watching Wheel of Fortune, and shopping at H-E-B. She especially loved reading devotional books and listening to Christian music. A woman of steadfast faith, she was a devoted member of First Baptist Church in Kingsville.
Grandma B will be remembered for her servant's heart, her strength as a prayer warrior, her unwavering love for her family, and the warmth she brought into every room. Her joyful laughter will continue to echo in the hearts of many, reminding us to cherish each moment, find joy in the simple things, and trust fully in the Lord.
Her favorite Bible verse was Micah 6:8:
"He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God."
The family will receive condolences from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. om Thursday, May 7, 2026 at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary; with a prayer service at 6:00 p.m. A chapl service will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 8, 2026 at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary.
