Antero Garcia

Antero Garcia, fondly known as "Shorty" by friends and loved ones, a beloved father, brother, and member of the community, has passed away at the age of 70. Antero was born on September 3, 1953, in Bishop, Texas to proud parents Esteban and Ignacia Garcia. He had a fulfilling career working for the city of Kingsville until his retirement.

Throughout his life, Antero had a deep passion for music and singing. In his younger years, while living in Chicago, he found joy in playing baseball and softball with his brothers and friends. Their team, fondly named "Los Chicanos de Chicago," created lasting memories. Additionally, Antero showcased his musical talent by playing the drums for a conjunto in Kingsville, Texas.

Antero is preceded in death by his parents Esteban and Ignacia Garcia, and siblings Alberto Garcia of Chicago, Illinois; Steve Garcia of Kingsville, Texas; and Lupe Soza of Houston, Texas.

Among those left to cherish Antero's memory are his son Andy Garcia of Chicago, Illinois; siblings Abel (Maria) Garcia of Bishop, Texas; Arturo Garcia of Corpus Christi, Texas; Bertha Rice of Florida; Sylvia Robinson of Chicago, Illinois; and his Godson Victor Manuel Marrero who is currently stationed in Hawaii with the Navy and held a very special place in Antero's heart.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Antero Garcia will be held on January 20, 2024, at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary commencing at 3:00 PM.

As we bid farewell to Antero Garcia, let us remember him for his dedication to his career and his unwavering love for music. May his soul find eternal peace and may his cherished memories bring solace to those who mourn his loss.
