Andres “Andy” Martinez, beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2025, in San Antonio, Texas, at the age of 74. He was born on May 31, 1951, to the late Alvino Martinez and Viola Del Bosque, who raised him with strong family values and a love for laughter that would stay with him throughout his life.
Andy was married to the love of his life, Graciela G. Martinez, in 1971, and together they shared a beautiful life filled with love, family, and countless cherished memories. Their marriage was a true partnership, marked by devotion and laughter, and Graciela remained the center of Andy’s heart until the day he left this world to join her once again.
He spent many years working at the Celanese Chemical Plant in Bishop, Texas, where he was known for his strong work ethic and sense of humor that kept his coworkers smiling, even on tough days. He believed in working hard but also living life to the fullest, and he embodied that balance better than anyone.
Andy was a true jokester at heart. He never missed the chance to make someone laugh, whether through a quick remark, a funny story, or simply his mischievous grin. He loved gathering with family, grilling outdoors, enjoying music, and making sure everyone was having a good time. One of his favorite sayings, “Any open beer is his favorite beer,” perfectly captured his easygoing spirit and love for enjoying the moment.
Family was Andy’s greatest joy and source of pride. He cherished the time he spent with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, always offering support, encouragement, and plenty of laughter. He had a way of making each family member feel special and loved, and his presence brought warmth and light to every gathering.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvino Martinez and Viola Del Bosque; The love of his life, Graciela G. Martinez; his brother Ben Martinez; and brothers-in-law Hector Vela. Andy leaves behind a loving family who will miss his humor and heart deeply.
He is survived by his children, Diana Martinez-Terry (Richard Terry) and Andrea Martinez (Madeline Martinez). He was a proud and devoted grandfather to Alex Martinez, Myranda Medina, Randall Medina Jr, Victoria Santana, Hayley Moya, David Moya, Draven Ramon, and Trinity Ramon. A special source of joy in his final years was his great-granddaughter, Miata Grace Medina.
He is also survived by his siblings: Amalia Pena (Cleo), Armando Lopez (Cookie), Johnny Martinez (Naomi), Arturo Martinez (Binky), Bernie Martinez (Cheryl), Richard Martinez, Carmen Vela, and Delia Hale (Ronnie). Andy’s memory will live on in the hearts of his many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will never forget his kindness, joyful spirit, and captivating stories.
Andy will be remembered for his laughter that could light up a room, his devotion to his family, and his ability to turn the simplest moments into treasured memories. His legacy is one of love, laughter, and togetherness, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
