Alma G. Gutierrez

Alma G. Gutierrez of Kingsville, Texas, passed away on Thursday, June 1, 2023, at the age of 91. She was born on June 11, 1931, to Joe D. and Jesusa Gonzalez in Hebbronville, Texas. Alma was a devoted educator for 45 years in Robstown Independent School District. Her teaching days began at Lotspeich Elementary School, she then transitioned to Principal at Salazar Elementary School and she spent the majority of her career as Principal at Hattie Martin Elementary School until retirement.

She will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Alma was a beautiful person inside and out. Her smile was so stunning it would light up the whole room. She cared so deeply for the people around her. She made an impact on many lives. She will be forever missed.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvaro Arturo Gutierrez, her parents; her in-laws, Arturo and Olivia Gutierrez; her great-granddaughter, Abbigail; and her brother and sister-in-law, Bryan B. and Maria M. Gonzalez of Hebbronville, Texas; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Alberto A. and Elia Gutierrez of Corpus Christi, Texas; and her brother-in-law Victoriano Canales of Buda, Texas.

Alma leaves to cherish her memory, two children, Alice Alma (Jose Antonio) Mendoza of Kingsville, Texas and Alan Alvaro (Gloria) Gutierrez of Mathis, Texas; grandchildren: Jose Antonio Mendoza II, Javier Alvaro (Elizabeth) Mendoza, Arturo A. (Lilleana) Gutierrez, Anthony A. (Sabrina) Gutierrez, Adrianna A. Gutierrez, Lillian Garcia, Gilbert Garcia and Michael Garcia; great-grandchildren: Joaquin Alvaro Mendoza; Adelaida, Alessandra, and Ariella Gutierrez; Alexander and Gabriella Gutierrez; Ethan Rene, Vada Rose and Lanae Rose Corpus; her brother and sister-in-law, Oscar O. (Elsa) Gonzalez; and sister-in-law Imelda Canales; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their thanks and gratitude to Father Romero and Sister Elizabeth for their loving support of Alma. Thank you for your kindness and friendship during this difficult time.

Visitation will be held on Monday, June 5, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary, Kingsville. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Gertrude Catholic Church, Kingsville, Texas. Burial will follow at New Hebbronville Cemetery, Hebbronville, Texas.
