Alejandro G. De Leon

Alejandro De Leon, 85, passed away November 19, 2024, in Kingsville, Texas. Alejandro was born July 14,1939 to Regino and Rosa De Leon in Bishop, Texas.

He grew up on a ranch outside of Matamoros, Mexico. Cando, as known by family and friends, was a migrant farmer who traveled to New York, Florida, California picking fruits, vegetables and flowers with his siblings and cousins.

Cando married Elvia (deceased) and raised 5 children. Margarita, Alejandro, Jr (Michelle), Veronica (Evaristo Alfaro, Jr), Rosa and Juan (Frances). He was a proud grandfather of Laura (Michael McReynolds), Alexis and Joe; great grandfather to Vaden and Romeo. During Alejandro and Elvia’s 55 years of marriage, they loved and enjoyed gardening. They received Garden Spot of the month twice.

Alejandro worked for Arthur Brothers and Mundy companies in Bishop, Texas for 39 years as a pipefitter till retirement. Afterwards he devoted his life to family, St. Martin’s Church in the Men’s Club and an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers. A favorite pastime and love was fishing. He would spread out so many fishing poles other fishermen thought he was building a fence.

The family wishes to thank everyone who was involved with his care at the end of his wonderful life, Dr. Morales and Lone Star Ranch Nursing and Rehab.

The family will receive condolences on Thursday, November 21, 2024, from 5pm to 9pm; with a holy rosary to be recited at 7pm. A mass of christian burial will be celebrated at 10am on Friday, November 22, 2024, at St. Martin Catholic Church. A rite of committal and internment will follow at Chamberlain Cemetery.
