Abel Contreras, Jr., a devoted husband, a loving father, grandfather, son, grandson, brother, and nephew passed away in Ravenel, South Carolina, on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at the age of 46. Born on September 1, 1979, Abel lived a life full of joy, purpose, and genuine connection. He was a proud 1998 graduate of Bishop High School.
His hobbies were simple yet full of heart. He had an endless love for music and could turn even an ordinary moment into something memorable with a perfectly timed movie quote or a spontaneous dance break that filled the room with laughter. Abel carried a light within him that made people feel safe, welcomed, and truly seen. His smile arrived before he did and it stayed long after he left and lives on in the memories of those fortunate enough to have shared in his company.
In his career, Abel poured the same kindness and sincerity into every relationship he built. He found his calling in sales not because of numbers or titles but because it allowed him to meet people, listen to them, and form bonds and relationships that lasted far beyond any transaction. His natural drive and determination were evident to all who worked with him and his vibrant spirit that made every workplace feel like a community.
Abel carried immense love for his family, especially his brothers. After the passing of their father, he made it his mission to support and uplift them in every way he could. He honored that promise every single day, ensuring his family felt protected, encouraged, and deeply loved. This devotion was the heart of who he was, a man who always put others before himself.
What is loved most about Abel was the way he made life brighter simply by being present. His laughter, his kindness, his ability to turn a difficult day into something bearable with just a few words and quick wit all came from a place of genuine care. He brought music, laughter, conversation, and comfort wherever he went.
Abel was preceded in death by his father, Abel Contreras, Sr.; mother, Elma C. Hernandez; paternal grandfather, Eugenio Contreras, Jr.; maternal grandparents, Tomas and Maria F. Hernandez; uncles, Eugenio “Gene” Contreras, III. and Esteban L. Hernandez.
He was survived by his loving wife, Monica Mireles, and with great sadness Monica joined Abel just two days after his passing. Among those left to cherish his memory are his children, Bryce Rogers and Jeslyn Rogers; grandson, Armani Rogers; paternal grandmother, Germana Contreras; stepmother, Nydia Contreras; siblings, Marcos Contreras, Michael (Angelica) Contreras, Isaac (Nadia Garcia) Contreras, and Jeremy (Rosa) Contreras; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
A memorial rosary will be recited at St. James Catholic Church by Marcus and Jennifer Perez on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at 9:30 AM; with a mass of christian burial celebrated at 10:00 AM. A rite of committal and interment will follow at St. James Catholic Cemetery, Bishop, Tx.
Abel leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to echo through every story shared and every smile sparked by the memory of him.
