I served in the Army.

Roberto P. Mendez Sr., 82, passed away December 24, 2018 in Kingsville, Texas. He was born on August 7, 1936 in San Diego, Texas to Manuel and Mercedes Perez Mendez. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. After he came home he took night classes at Del Mar College where he learned the trade of Pipe Fitter. He furthered his education as an Aircraft Mechanic. He will be missed by all who loved and knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, first wife Idalia A. Mendez, one daughter, Ann Marie Mendez, one brother, Manuel Mendez, Jr., and one sister, Lupita Carson.
Roberto is survived by his beloved wife of 26 years, Jackie G. Mendez of Kingsville, Tx; one son, Robert Mendez Jr. (Olga) of San Antonio, Tx.; three daughters, Mercedes Munoz (Robert) of Kingsville, Tx., Brenda Gutierrez (Roy) of Kingsville., Melissa Mancera (Julio) of Waco, Tx.; three stepsons, David Ramos (Linda) of Corpus Christi, Tx., Ruben Ramos (Connie) of Austin, Tx., and Rene Ramos of Bishop, Tx.; three stepdaughters, Sylvia Ruiz (David) of Bishop, Tx., Corinna Lira (Tony) of Kingsville, Tx., and Nadia Ramirez (David) of Bishop, Tx., numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will be held, Thursday, December 27, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening at the Turcotte-Piper Mortuary chapel. A Funeral Mass will be held Friday, December 28, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Martins Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Chamberlain Cemetery.
Robert was beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather; he was a friend to many. Roberts passion was being outdoors working on the yard. He loved to sit outside and listen to his beloved T-45 fly by.
Services are entrusted to Turcotte-Piper Mortuary, 205 General Cavazos Blvd. Kingsville, Texas 78363.
