Joan Underbrink, 66, of Kingsville, Texas passed away on Friday, September 1, 2017. A time for the family to receive friends will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary Chapel. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary Chapel. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 am on Thursday, September 7, 2017 at St. Gertrude’s Catholic Church in Kingsville. Interment will follow at Chamberlain Cemetery.
Joan, daughter of Alex and Ellen Jungman, was born on October 24, 1950 in San Antonio, Texas. Joan graduated from Providence High School in San Antonio, and she attended San Antonio College. Joan worked for over twenty years at the USDA Farm Service Agency until her retirement in December 2015. Joan was very active in her parish community of St. Gertrude’s Catholic Church, and she served as the secretary for the Altar Society for many years. Joan also participated in the Kleberg County Extension Homemakers, and she volunteered many hours as an adult leader for Kleberg County 4-H.
The family would like to thank MD Anderson, Corpus Christi Cancer Center, Bay Area Hospital, Doctor’s Regional Hospital, and Kingsville Nursing and Rehab for their wonderful care.
Joan is preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Gary Underbrink, and her parents, Alex and Ellen Jungman. Joan is survived by her daughter, Shelley (Brian) Mosser; her son, Ryan (Sarah) Underbrink; her grandsons, Luke Mosser and Timothy Underbrink; brothers, Curtis (Susan) Jungman and Robert (Carol) Jungman; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be sent to the American Cancer Society, c/o Kleberg Co. - Bishop Relay for Life, 4101 S. Alameda St., Corpus Christi, TX 78411.
Services are entrusted to Turcotte-Piper Mortuary, 205 General Cavazos Blvd., Kingsville, Texas.
