Travis Lee McGee, age 88, a resident of Kingsville, Texas since 1947 passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2013 in Kingsville. He was born January 19, 1925 in Marietta, Oklahoma to Travis Roger McGee and Maynie Lanford McGee. Travis was a self employed farmer, rancher and building contractor until his retirement. He was a deacon and member of the First Baptist Church and a 65 year Masonic member of the Chamberlain Lodge. Travis was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II having served in the Pacific Theatre.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Constance Joyce McGee.
Travis is survived by his wife, Gladys McGee of Kingsville two daughters, Patricia McGee of Round Rock, Texas and Barbara Walther of Pearland, Texas one son, David Lee McGee of McAllen, Texas one stepson, James C. Wilborn Elizabeth of Chillicothe, Texas 15 grandchildren and 15 greatgrandchildren.
Visitation will take place Friday, May 10, 2013 at the TurcottePiper Mortuary from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with the family receiving friends during those hours. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 11, 2013 at the First Baptist Church, 312 W. King, Kingsville with Rev. Jack Willoughby officiating. Burial will follow in Kingsville at Chamberlain Cemetery with full military honors provided by the Veterans of Kleberg County Military Funeral Detail.
Active pallbearers will be Brian Jones, Christopher Walther, Matthew Walther, Travis Lee McGee II, John Houston McGee, Robert Munguia and Mikel Quinones.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, 312 W. King, Kingsville, Texas 78363 or a charity of ones choice.
Services are entrusted to TurcottePiper Mortuary, 205 General Cavazos Blvd., Kingsville, Texas.
